Bits of Episode 9
Amidst all the battle the thing I noticed about Episode 9 was the ladies.

The growing friendship/alliance between Sansa and Shae is striking. I’m glad that they put this in. Not enough TV/Movies show genuine relationships between women, and though they sometimes speak of men, there is lots of Beschdel goodness to spare. It may get strained due to things next season, but I hope they remain allies. I love every moment of it.

Cersei with Tommen on the Iron Throne, surrounded by darkness. Gorgeous, haunting imagery there. All she wants is the be truly queen and to have her children at her side. Marcella is lost to Dorne, Joffrey to madness, and he’s all she has left. She holds him tight. Her son is her defiance against the patriarchy, her fuck you to Robert, the one way she regains agency over her body, by choosing the father of her children instead of the rapist she was sold to. War is at her door, and she is prepared to take control of her body one more time.
By far this is my favourite added scene in the whole series, written by GRRM himself. I wonder, with the added things in this episode being written by the original author, did he think of these nuggets after publication and now had the chance to add them? There were quite a few new zingers in there. Or where these things he had loved to put in but couldn’t because of POV restrictions? Did he just think these up while writing the series?

Cersei only drops the poison after she sees her father, not before. Only when she knows they have won does she drop her guard.

One thing to a perfect episode (aside from the gratuitous boobies). I wish they had included a clear shot of Loras in Renly’s armour. If I hadn’t read the books, I would have missed it!
Halftime Score: Nudity in Game of Thrones
The Score
Women: 12
Men: 3
Female Nudity
HBO invents all reasons to have naked women. Even when a female prostitute is naked as can be the camera angles find excuse to never show anything of the male clients. Instead the men walk about either clothed, or with a strategically exposed women covering up his naughty bits. Perish the thought of a naked man in a brothel!
Even when female nudity makes no sense, they throw it in.
If Margaery knew that Renly was gay and unseduceable, why did she her top off? Asking if he wants her brother to help, awsome. Excuse for more female nudity, not so awsome.
With Joffrey’s of prostitute beating, the nudity cheapened the scene. It would have been more powerful if she had kept her clothes on, and shown no sign of anything at all sexual in that scene and that he gets his kicks from pure violence, instead of the mix.
That Stannis/Mel scene… what’s with him being fully clothed, not even slipping out his pecker for a moment, and her being totally naked? Lopsided-much HBO? Besides. Melisandre should have been on top. Stannis is too rigid to take charge with his mechanical thrusts and make a mess of the Painted Table.

Male Nudity
Notice how nothing is censor-worthy on the men. And as lovely as Episode 5 was without a boob in sight, and instead Gendry’s fine, fine smithing, the scales are rather a little unbalanced. Dear HBO: those of us who appreciate the male body like a little ass too, maybe even a tentacle.

I made these a while ago back when I had like 10 followers, barely anything was in the GOT tags and people were totally shocked that Renly/Loras praying together meant that they were fucking…so I’m just going to repost them in anticipation for the upcoming ~season of lurve stories.~ I’m not sure the images are big enough to make t-shits, but that’s what they’re supposed to be for. They’re based on Stonewall’s, Some people are gay. Get over it! campaign.

This.
Okay I admit it took me until Storm to notice… but I don’t get people’s furious denial over it WHEN THE AUTHOR HIMSELF SAID THEY WERE GAY. It’s in the same category of people not believing Dumbledore is gay, but they believe he is a wizard.
